Terms of service
The agreement between you and Superscreen: what the licence lets you do, what it does not, and what happens when something goes wrong. Accepting it is part of checkout.

Accepting this agreement
Checkout will not open until you have accepted these terms, which carry the refund rules as well. That acceptance is recorded with the order, along with the date of the version you accepted.
Two parts of this agreement matter more than the rest, so they are named on the checkout itself: payments are not refundable except in the cases set out below, and a licence key is yours alone and may not be shared.
The licence you get
Buying Superscreen buys a licence to use it, not the software itself. The licence is personal to you and covers Macs you own or control.
- Monthly, at $10 a month, covers two Macs at a time
- Yearly, at $100 a year, is the same licence and the same two Macs
- Lifetime, at $200 once, has no renewal and covers every Mac you personally own
- A seat moves by deactivating a Mac from your account, at any time and as often as you like
- The free tier needs no licence at all, and marks exports with a small badge
The key is yours alone
A licence key identifies one person. It covers the Macs that belong to you, in your household or your own work, and it covers nobody else — not a colleague, not a team, not a friend who liked the app.
This is the one rule we enforce actively rather than on trust, because a shared key is the difference between a product that keeps being built and one that stops.
- Do not send, publish, resell, rent out or post your licence key anywhere
- Do not use one licence to cover machines that are not yours
- Do not work around the seat limit, the badge or the licence check
- Do not decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law says you may despite this
How sharing is detected
Every activation and every licence check leaves a record against the licence: which Mac, and a one-way hash of the network it came from. We never store the address itself, and none of it is tied to what you record.
What gets judged is the pattern across thirty days. A licence appearing on far more Macs, from far more separate networks, than one person plausibly owns is flagged automatically.
A flagged licence stops accepting new Macs. The machines already activated keep working exactly as they did, so nobody is cut off mid-recording. Deliberate or repeated sharing, on the other hand, can have the licence revoked without a refund.
Travelling, a new office, a rebuilt Mac and a house full of your own machines are all normal, and none of them should trip it. If yours is flagged and it should not be, write to us and we will clear it.
Your recordings are yours
We claim nothing over what you capture. The files are made on your machine and stay there, and nothing in this agreement gives us a licence to them.
The other side of that: you are responsible for what you record. Recording other people, their voices or their screens may need their consent where you are, and getting it is your job rather than the app’s.
Subscriptions and renewals
A monthly subscription renews each month, and a yearly one each year, until you cancel it. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves the licence working until the end of the period you already paid for.
Prices can change, but not on an existing subscription without telling you first, before a renewal, with enough notice to cancel.
A period you have used is not refunded. A renewal that caught you out, and that you have not used, is.
Payments and refunds
Payments for Superscreen are not refundable as a matter of course. That is stated at the checkout, and accepting it is part of buying.
The reason is the free tier. It is the whole recorder — every capture mode, every option, the editor, real exports — with a small badge in the corner and no expiry. You can use it for a week or a year before paying anything, so a purchase is never made blind.
The exception is the app failing to be what this site says it is. In these cases write to us and you get your money back, in full, without an argument.
- A defect that stops you using the app and that we cannot fix in reasonable time
- A feature promised on this site that does not work on a Mac it is meant to support
- A charge that went through twice, or a purchase made by accident
- A renewal you did not intend, told us about promptly, and have not used since
- Anything else where it is plain that you paid for something you did not get
How to ask for a refund
Email support@superscreen.app from the address you bought with, or quote the licence key, and say what went wrong. There is no form and no script.
If it is a defect, give us a chance to fix it first — most of these turn out to be an afternoon of work rather than a refund. If we cannot fix it, the refund follows.
The refund is issued through Polar, our merchant of record, back to the original payment method. We process it within two working days; how long it then takes to appear is up to your bank, usually five to ten.
A refunded licence stops working, and the app falls back to the free tier: everything still records, and exports carry the small badge again. Nothing you already made is touched, altered or removed — the files are on your Mac and they stay exactly as they are.
A licence revoked for being shared is not refunded. A flagged licence keeps working on the Macs already on it, so nobody loses access by surprise.
None of this displaces a statutory right to cancel or to a remedy where you live. Where your local law gives you more than this agreement does, your law wins, and telling us you are relying on it is enough — we will not ask you to prove anything.
Chargebacks
Please write to us before going to your bank. A chargeback takes weeks, revokes the licence automatically, and costs us a fee on top of the refund — whereas an email gets the same money back to you faster.
What lifetime means here
One payment, no renewal, and every update we ship to the app. It is not transferable to another person, and it does not cover a different product if we ever make one.
The app is provided as it is
We work hard on it, and we still cannot promise it is free of defects or right for a particular job. It is provided without warranties beyond those your local law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Keep your own copies of anything that matters. A recorder is not a backup.
Liability
Where the law allows a limit, ours is what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem. We are not liable for lost recordings, lost profits or consequential loss.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using the app at any time, and cancel a subscription from your account. We can revoke a licence obtained by fraud, by a reversed payment, or used in a way these terms forbid — in practice, this means chargebacks and resold keys, and we email before doing it wherever there is someone to email.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator of Superscreen is established, without displacing consumer protections you have where you live.
If part of this agreement turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
Questions about any of this go to support@superscreen.app, and a person answers them.
